The Generations² study examines the developmental changes pregnant women go through when preparing for motherhood. This study is designed to identify possible predictors for aversive childrearing outcomes, such as unsecure attachment. Eventually, results from this study have to contribute to the development of strategies for optimizing healthcare and childrearing practices.

Approximately 1,500 pregnant women are being recruited in the area of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, during their first trimester of pregnancy. These women participate by filling out questionnaires at three moments during pregnancy and 2 moments following the birth of their child.
